Joseph W. Hood Jr.
Virginia Beach lawyer Joe Hood has been practicing law for 25 years (retired). Prior to obtaining his law degrees, Mr. Hood was a captain in the Navy; he served as a fighter pilot, and held command at sea. His last active duty position was as Comptroller for Naval Base Norfolk. He is a leader in the community, having received, among other accolades, a City of Virginia Beach Human Rights Award, the purpose of which is to officially recognize individuals, community groups, or organizations for meritorious service in pursuant to cultural diversity and advocacy of human rights which benefit Virginia Beach citizens. He also serves on many volunteer boards. He was a founding Director of the Beach Health Clinic 25 years ago, and has served as its President for the last fifteen (15) years. He is a Past-President of the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, Past-President of the St. Andrews Society of Tidewater, a former commissioner for the City of Virginia Beach Resort Advisory Commission, member of the City of Virginia Beach Library Board, President of the Friends of the Library, and is an elder in the Presbyterian Church.
He founded the law firm in 1985, and it has grown into a service-oriented firm that takes pride in its ability to meet the needs of clients.

Mykell L. Messman
Mykell Messman is licensed to practice in all Virginia state courts, the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Ms. Messman is an active member of the local military community, serving as the Family Readiness Group President for the Army Norfolk Recruiting Command. Ms. Messman earned her Associates Degree, Bachelor of Arts Degree and her Juris Doctor while her husband was on active duty service with the US Army. Ms. Messman has experience in all aspects of trial preparation and litigation. While attending law school, she was active in many organizations and participated in Regent’s Trial Competition in which she was awarded the Individual Award for Best Cross Examination.
